Aave Labs, the developer behind the decentralized finance (DeFi) lending protocol Aave, has donated €25,000 ($28,834.62) in stablecoins to Trinity College Dublin. The funds will support students from underrepresented backgrounds through the Pathways to Business program, a joint initiative by Trinity Business School and Trinity Access Programmes.

This marks the first cryptocurrency donation received by the university. The contribution was processed via Trinity’s U.S.-based charity, the University of Dublin Fund, in collaboration with The Giving Block, a leading digital asset philanthropy platform that mitigates volatility risks by converting crypto donations into fiat instantly.

Professor Laurent Muzellec, Dean of Trinity Business School, emphasized the critical role of philanthropy in addressing Ireland’s higher education funding gap. AAVE Labs founder Stani Kulechov acknowledged the donation in a social media post, reinforcing the protocol’s commitment to education and inclusivity.
